Once upon a time, there was a young couple named Sarah and David who were driving down a deserted highway late at night. 
They had been driving for hours, trying to reach their destination before sunrise.

As they drove, the darkness enveloped the road, making it difficult for them to see ahead. The only source of light came from the headlights of their car, illuminating the road just a few feet in front of them. Suddenly, their car started to make a strange noise and the engine began to sputter. Sarah and David quickly pulled over to the side of the road to assess the problem.

After a few minutes of trying to fix the car, they realized that they were completely lost and that they would not be able to continue their journey without help. Sarah tried calling for help on her phone, but there was no signal. The couple decided to start walking down the road in hopes of finding help.

As they walked, the darkness seemed to grow thicker around them. The only sounds were the crunching of the gravel under their feet and the occasional rustling of leaves in the wind. After what felt like hours, they saw a light in the distance. They walked towards it, thinking that it might be a gas station or a rest stop.

However, as they got closer, they realized that the light was coming from an old, abandoned gas station. The building was in ruins, and the windows were boarded up. But despite this, the flickering light was coming from inside.

Sarah and David hesitated, but they decided to go inside to see if they could find help. As soon as they stepped inside, they were greeted by a musty, damp smell. The light was coming from a single lantern on the floor, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

Suddenly, they heard a voice that seemed to come from the shadows. "Welcome to the lost highway," it said. "You will never leave."

The couple tried to run back to the road, but they found that the door was now locked. The voice continued to laugh, echoing throughout the gas station. Sarah and David were never seen or heard from again.

The legend of the lost highway says that those who try to leave the road will never escape its grasp, and that the abandoned gas station is haunted by the ghosts of those who have tried to find their way back to the road, but have never been seen again.
